I'm a bit late with this blog post, but what can I say? Life got in the way.
So what have I been up to over the last few months I hear you ask? The answer is lots of illustrating!
Firstly, my nonfiction picturebook about frogs has now been published and is available on Amazon and other good booksellers. It's called Frogs: Weird and Wonderful, and is available in hardback and paperback. Also, please, please, please leave a review if you like the book. Reviews are hard to come by, and every single one of them helps. Goodreads is also a good place to leave a review. As it's a review site rather than a selling site, there's no need to have a minimum spend, like you do on Amazon.
Secondly, I finally bought an iPad and Procreate so I can keep creating on the go. I have to say it's been great fun learning how to use it. I've been digitally painting in Photoshop and a lot of the skills turned out to be transferable because things like layers work in a similar way. This has been one of my best buys, and I highly recommend it to other digital artists out there that are looking for a more portable way to work.
Here is a lovely Winter scene I created recently.
Thirdly, I have been looking through my illustration work over the last year or so, and it's pretty clear I need to sort through my portfolio and do some thinning out! This also led to a really exciting photobook project, which I had printed through Saal Digital. I have to say, the quality of the pages is outstanding. This is the first time I have had my illustrations professionally printed and bound into a book and it's fantastic. I now have a physical portfolio to show off! If only I had a coffee table to display it on...
So we're all caught up!
Right now, I'm just making a start on a new fiction picturebook project so I'll try to keep you updated.
I'm off for a tasty snack and a cup of tea...
